Effect of Long - Term CO2 Enrichment on Leaf Temperature , Diffusion Resistance , and Photosynthetic Rate in Tomato Plant
Choi Eung-Chil

Abstract
The tomato plant (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. Kwangsu) which was acclimated with the long-term CO©ü enrichment by 800 ppm and 2,400 ppm in the controlled cultivation was studied to clarify the changes of leaf temperature, diffusion resistance, transpiration, and CO©ü assimilation in the tomato leaves in the field and laboratory from 1987 to 1989. The increase of the diffusion resistance to water vapor diffusion and the decrease of the transpiration of CO©ü-enriched tomato leaves were significant in the middle part than in the upper part of the plant. Leaf temperature of the plant enriched with CO©ü, 800 ppm was higher than that of the untreated plants, and significant differences appeared in the upper part of the plants. Photosynthetic rate increased in the early application of CO©ü, but showed no differences in 30 days after the treatment (DAT) and decreased more than the ambient plant. Photosynthetic rate in the lower leaves of tomato plants also increased until 20 DAT, but after that decreased more than the ambient.
